Applications for the Special Event Grant program administered by the Leon County Tourist Development Council, in cooperation with the Tallahassee Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, are now available for cultural events, sporting events and general events.  Designated to promote Tallahassee-Leon County as a preferred visitor destination, the Special Event Grant funds events with significant potential to draw visitors to the Tallahassee area or established events with significant potential to draw visitors to the area or established events with a demonstrated history of visitor impact.
 
To be considered for funding, the event must attract overnight visitors to Tallahassee-Leon County with a direct impact on transient lodging occupancy including hotels, motels and/or campgrounds.  Additional funding considerations include preference for events scheduled during traditionally low occupancy periods, number of out-of-town visitors and event scope and duration.
