Florida State University (FSU)
For 138 years, students have passed through the wrought iron gates to the Gothic twin towers of the Westcott building. Since achieving coed status in 1947, the school of 29,000 mighty "Seminoles" – named after Indian ancestors – has evolved into a research institution with a magnetic field laboratory, supercomputer and a nuclear accelerator.

Goodwood Museum and Gardens
A gracious 1834 plantation gardens estate, the main house contains priceless original art and furnishings. The grounds include cottages, which are available to rent for special events, a skating rink, newly renovated reflecting pool and charming heirloom gardens.  Gardens/Grounds open Mon.- Fri.9 am-5 pm (FREE and open to the public).  Main House Tours Mon-Fri 10 am-4 pm; Sat 10am-2pm ($5/person, FREE/ages 3 & under).  Paula's Cabana Cafe open Tues.- Fri. 11:30am-2:30 pm. JOHN G. RILEY CENTER OF AFRICAN HISTORY AND CULTURE  
Built in 1890, the Riley House is the only home in Florida, once owned by a freed slave, that is still standing at its original location. A National Register property, it has been restored, is being preserved and interpreted , and is the last visible evidence of a thriving African American community that once existed in downtown Tallahassee. Exhibits feature historical art work and photographs depicting life in Tallahassee and Florida from 1865 to 1968. Historical publications and Riley souvenirs are available onsite in the gift shop. Mildred and Claude Pepper Library and Museum

Legislative Research Center & Museum
A collection and exhibit of historic Florida legislative memorabilia, including documents, recordings, and other artifacts. A strong educational component will provide citizens with opportunities to research and engage in activities that foster understanding and appreciation of the democratic process. Known for its delightful garden and gazebo, as well as its center for art exhibitions, ranging from watercolors to oil and avant-garde to traditional. Located in the Meginnis-Munroe House (1852-53).

Maclay State Gardens
Enchanting floral architecture surrounds 1930s home of NY financier Alfred B. Maclay. Impressive grounds feature 200+ floral varieties plus hiking, biking and nature trails, swimming, fishing and boating. Daily 8 am-sunset; Park Admission is $4/vehicle (up to 8 passengers), $1 each additional person. Additional gardens fee (Jan-April) is $4/Adults, $2/Under 12, FREE/Infants in arms. Mary Brogan Museum of Art & Science
Three floors of museum excitement. The first floor features traveling science exhibits that are always interactive and spectacular. Mission San Luis
See history come alive through costumed living history, hands-on exhibits, re-creations of period buildings and archaeological excavations at the only reconstructed Spanish mission in Florida. The site was the capital of the western missions in La Florida from 1656 to 1704 and was home to 1,500 Spanish and Apalachee Indian residents. The council house is the largest historic Indian building in the Southeast. Guided Group Tours are available by reservation. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas days. Tues-Sun 10 am-4 pm. FREE.

Museum of Florida History
The official museum of the state of Florida since its opening in 1977, the Museum of Florida History collects, preserves, exhibits and interprets evidence of past and present cultures in Florida. Permanent exhibits range from the prehistoric to the 20th century and include a nine-foot mastodon skeleton, the St. Johns Diorama (depiction of an early Timucan Indian village), a recreated 19th century steamboat and a tribute to Florida citizens in World War II. Nicholson Farmhouse
Historic 1828 home, listed on the National Register of Historical Places, and five turn-of-the-century homes restored and converted to a restaurant, gift & antique shop, mule-drawn wagon rides every Fri & Sat night. Come see the amazing display of coreopsis in bloom (late April-early May). Open for public viewing at no charge Tue-Sat 9 am-10 pm.
