Tallahassee Rowing
Tallahassee has a very rich rowing history, even though rowing in Tallahassee has been around for a short time. The sport of rowing was first introduced to the community in the winter of 1991 when Leon High School formed a team. The school has been successful competing at the state championship level and the national championship level for the last sixteen years.
In 1996 Lincoln High School formed a team. They were no stranger to success either competing amongst the top boats in the state of Florida. In 1999 Chiles High School opened its doors. In 2000 Lincoln and Chiles decided to form a club team in which the students of all schools in Tallahassee could participate. The new rowing team was named Tallahassee Area Crew (TAC).
Both teams Leon High School Crew and TAC have come together in the 2008 season to form a club called Capital City Rowing (CCR). Now both teams are able to use the knowledge and experience they have gained through the years to pull talent from every middle school and high school in Tallahassee to compete with the best in the nation.
