The Tallahassee Police Department will be hosting a National Night Out event in Tallahassee on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the parks on Park Avenue. The 24th Annual National Night Out is sponsored by the National
Association of Town Watch (NATW). We cordially invite all citizens of Tallahassee and surrounding counties to be part of our National Night Out 2007 Team.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that businesses and neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Citizens throughout Tallahassee are asked to come out and spend the evening with their neighbors and the police department. Don't forget to bring the kids! There will be many activities and goodies for them as well. The Tallahassee Police Department's Crime Prevention Unit, as well as local vendors, will be on-site to share home and business security information and personal safety information. The event will conclude with a flashlight walk to symbolize the Tallahassee community turning the lights on crime.

This letter is to request your assistance in making this event a success. The event is free to the public and vendors. We are looking for business to participate and make donations for needed items. In 2006, we had a great turn out of approximately 400 people. This year should be bigger than 2006 and we can only do it with the help of great organizations like yours. All we ask is that vendors refrain from selling products at this event. If you need further information or would like to make a donation, please call or e-mail me and I will be happy to help you. If you would like to participate, please fill out the included registration form and mail it or fax it back to me. Vendors, please note that this event is free and we ask that vendors not sell merchandise during the event. Thank you for you time in this matter and I look forward to hearing from you.
