North Florida Heritage Tour
Florida Heritage Month is celebrated annually from March 15 to April 15 to heighten awareness of our state’s rich history, its historical sites, museums and libraries, and the visual and performing arts which flourish in the state of Florida.
Mission San Luis will partner with historic sites in Florida’s panhandle to develop the North Florida Heritage Tour that takes visitors on a journey through Florida’s past. The partnering sites will host a media familiarization tour promoting the tour prior to Florida Heritage Month and resulting in media coverage between March 15 and April 15. Based on tourism research, Mission San Luis will invite daily and weekly newspapers and television stations within driving distance of Tallahassee and specialized publications like Southern Living, Sweet Tea, Tallahassee Magazine, and Florida History and the Arts to participate in the tour. Subsequent tours to media from different markets will be offered as well. Due to legislative events, the tour should be held prior to the start of the 2007 Regular Session and between committee meeting weeks.
