Apalachicola Bluffs and Ravines Preserve The Preserve
is located in the Apalachicola Ravines Region. There are 6,294 acres of this unique ecosystem offering one 3.5 mile trail. The Garden of Eden Trail takes the hiker through longleaf pine/wiregrass uplands, to the top of a steephead ravine, across a stream, and up through sandhills to a bluff that over looks the Apalachicola River. This area is a great place to view plants and animals found only in this area or in the mountains and it is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail.

National Wildlife Refuge
St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge The Wildlife Refuge is located in Wakulla County south of Tallahassee. There are 68,000 acres that cover four units: St. Marks, Wakulla, Panacea, and the Aucilla River. This is the oldest refuge in the National Wildlife Refuge System and includes coastal marshes, islands, tidal creeks, and estuaries of seven rivers. It also is the home of the St. Marks Lighthouse that was built in 1832 and is in use today. There are over 75 miles of trails to explore including 50 miles of The Florida Trail.
