Hiking in Tallahassee

|
Do you love to explore on foot? Come to Tallahassee and take an adventure on the numerous trails we have to offer. We have it all: city parks, county parks, greenways, national forest, national wildlife refuge, state parks, state forests, and wildlife management areas. Make this trip an unforgettable one, travel through the rolling hills of the Red Hills Region, through the forest, down through the swamps, rivers, over sandhills, and to the top of a bluff.
The trails offer a glimpse of the different terrain and ecosystems in northern Florida. A hiker can travel through the rolling hills, ravines, sandhills, and swamps to catch a glimpse of wildlife and nature. The Florida Trail runs through the Apalachicola National Forest down through the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge offering many opportunities to traverse over a wide range of terrain. The St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge is the only refuge that allows camping for Florida Trail users. The Torreya State Park and the Apalachicola Bluff and Ravines Preserve offer great sites of ravines and bluffs over the Apalachicola River. The Preserve is the home to many wildlife and plants that are only found here or usually found in the Appalachian Mountains.
