Welcome to FilmTallahassee!

Here you’ll find traditional Florida locations, such as beaches, waterways and coastlines, as well as images and locations which could easily replicate locations in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana and other southeastern destinations. From rolling hills to urban city scenes to historic plantation homes to live oak lined roads that form a Spanish moss canopy, Tallahassee offers a dynamic setting for your next film.

Whatever the scope of your project we have the resources in place to help you bring it to life. Many films and television shows have been shot in or around Tallahassee including: Coastlines (Josh Brolin), Ulee’s Gold (Peter Fonda), Ruby in Paradise (Ashlee Judd), Something Wild (Melanie Griffith), Airport (Jack Lemon), two Tarzan movies, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Trading Spaces and HBO’s Recount (Kevin Spacey).

Casts and crews a like will enjoy all that Tallahassee’s diverse cultural and entertainment options – there’s something for everyone. There are museum exhibits that range from carefully preserved historic sites to cutting edge technology and, of course, a vibrant display of art. Dining in town can suit any mood, whether it’s quick and fast or five-star. Local fare includes specialties such as homemade country sausage and melt-in-your-mouth steaks to wild game and succulent seafood fresh from the Gulf.

FilmTallahassee would like to work with you. To help your project go as planned here are a few items to keep in mind:

Please do allow at least seven (7) working days after the receipt of your completed paperwork and insurance to obtain a permit if there are no stunts, pyrotechnics, traffic impacts or street closures required by your shoot. Allow a minimum of ten (10) working days if those more complicated elements are involved. We will always try our best to expedite your requests, but generally these are the timeframes you can expect for permits to be issued.

Large-scale or complex production projects may require coordination of several city, county or state departments. To expedite the permitting process, you must notify the Visit Tallahassee of your plans early in the pre-production process. A meeting involving your Location Manager and representatives of various city, county or state departments may be needed before a motion photography permit is issued.

Our vision at FilmTallahassee is to be recognized as the most production-friendly community in North Florida. It is our mission to enhance the local tourism economy by promoting the City of Tallahassee/Leon County as a film-friendly motion picture and television production location to the creators and producers of motion picture, television and commercial productions.
