Treat yourself to one of the holiday season’s most treasured performances, The Tallahassee Ballet’s The Nutcracker at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall. Share the excitement and magic with your family and friends while trees grow larger than life right before your very eyes and snowflakes delicately fall on dancers twirling and leaping across the stage.
This year’s production features Boston Ballet Principal Dancers Lia Cirio and Paul Craig. Cirio will dance the role of The Sugar Plum Fairy and Craig will perform the part of her Cavalier.
The story of The Nutcracker begins on Christmas Eve. A young girl named Clara is gifted a Nutcracker doll – but not any ordinary Nutcracker. Clara is magically transported to a mystical land where she is forced to contest the frightful Rat King with her doll as the prince by her side. The two then set off on a magical adventure through the Kingdom of Sweets. The two-act ballet has roots in German folklore and was first brought to the stage with Tchaikovsky’s iconic score in 1892 Russia. The timeless tale has been a Tallahassee tradition since the first curtain rose on TTB’s The Nutcracker in 1986.
