In our ongoing efforts to promote tourism and financially support events that bring out-of-town visitors to the area, the Leon County Division of Tourism (Visit Tallahassee) grants application process for 2019-2020 Signature, Special and Sports Events Grants is now open.
Eligible event(s) must take place between October 1, 2019 and September 30, 2020 and have the potential to or history of bringing visitors to the area who use local hotels or short-term lodging facilities in Leon County.
Leon County uses an online grant application that simplifies the process for applicants. Three workshops are being held to further assist applicants and provide additional information about the County’s grants programs. The workshops will take place at the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library, 200 W. Park Avenue, on May 7, June 11, and July 9 from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Applications are due by Friday, July 12, 2019.

The Leon County Division of Tourism (Visit Tallahassee) annually funds groups and organizations that coordinate events with a history of or significant potential for attracting visitors to the area who stay overnight in commercial lodging.
The Special Event Grant Program is administered by the Leon County Tourist Development Council and designated advisory groups including the Special Event Grant Committee and the Tallahassee Sports Council.
A “special event” is defined as a new or existing, organized sporting event, concert, exhibition, festival, fair, conference or celebration conducted according to a pre-arranged schedule and of interest to the general public. Public interest should extend to both Leon County residents and those living outside the county.
