Tally Yakkers Outfitters

The Tallahassee-Leon County area seems to have it all. There are major universities, nightlife, great restaurants, greenways & parks, biking, hiking, kayaking, running & equestrian trails, and great fishing. But what Tallahassee was missing was a locally owned, independent kayak specialty shop. That was until a year ago when Tallahassee native, Lee Norris, decided to pursue his dream of opening a full service kayak shop - Tally Yakkers Outfitters. Located in the historic Railroad Square Art Park, Tally Yakkers has everything you need for a successful day on the water.

Tally Yakkers Outfitters is Tallahassee’s only independently owned kayak specialty shop. Lee Norris, with 30+ years of kayaking experience, had a vision to be the go-to place in Tallahassee and the surrounding area for all your kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, and accessory needs. He does this by providing the expertise you need in order to make informed decisions when it comes to purchasing or accessorizing your kayak. Unlike the big box stores, Tally Yakkers knows the products inside and out and has hands on experience with everything in the store. With brands such as Vibe, KAKU, NuCanoe, YakGear, AO coolers, Cablz, and much, much more, you can be sure of a quality product. Free demos are always available to be sure the kayak you purchase is suited for your particular needs.

Tally Yakkers offers free installation of any accessory purchased through the shop and can install anything you bring them. Complete customization is also available, and if you can dream it, they can build it! Lee is a genius when it comes to working on DIY projects. Damaged plastic boat? No problem! From removing minor surface scratches to repairing full blown holes, there’s no job too small! Feel free to swing by and pick Lee’s brain. He’s always up for a challenge!

Tally Yakkers Outfitters also joined forces with Harry Smith Outdoors to provide guided kayak eco tours and fishing trips. Harry offers guided tours down crystal clear, spring-fed rivers, blackwater cypress swamps, coastal creeks, marshes and more! Everything from mild to wild, no matter your skill level, Harry can suit your needs. Manatee viewing, swimming & snorkeling, full moon paddles, overnight kayak camping and fishing can all be found within Tallahassee and the surrounding area. Gift certificates are also available for that adventurer in your life that seems to have it all! These paddles are great for birthday parties, family gatherings, office parties and team building excursions. Come by Tally Yakkers Outfitters or visit Harry Smith Outdoors on Facebook to chat with Harry in person and book your custom trip.

But wait, there’s more! Tally Yakkers Outfitters has recently added an art room right inside of the shop. Although what happens at Tally Yakkers is a work of art in itself, being surrounded by artists in Railroad Square has inspired Lee to transform a room where local artists can display their work. From wood burning pieces by resident artist, Billy Blair, to handmade jewelry by ecologist Kara Driscoll, to oil paintings by local fly fisherman Gerald Bell and of course photographs by kayak guide Harry Smith, you are sure to find something that speaks to you.

"Whether you’re in the market for a new kayak, looking to accessorize or repair your current vessel or just looking for a new adventure, come on down to Tally Yakkers Outfitters in Railroad Square, check them out online or Facebook.
