TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 7, 2014) - Visit Tallahassee, the official tourism marketing organization for Leon County, unveils a new marketing campaign that focuses on residents and visitors sharing their favorite Tallahassee-area sights, activities and events with their friends through a variety of social media channels.
The campaign, #IHeartTally, utilizes the people who were born, live, visit, work and play here to share their love of the area through messages, photographs and videos on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, ultimately encouraging others to visit Florida’s capital city.
“We have a wonderful story to tell, and we know just the people to tell it,” explained Lee Daniel, executive director of Visit Tallahassee. “People love our area for a variety of reasons -- whether it’s history and heritage, nature based activities, visual and performing arts, sports, food, shopping, higher education or nightlife. Everyone has a circle of friends that share these common interests which makes the message resonate on a very personal and effective manner.”
Residents and visitors see reminders of the #IHeartTally campaign with instructions about sharing their experiences, on everything from drink coasters in Tallahassee’s bars (“Show us a good time. #IHeartTally”) to napkins in restaurants (“Show us your biscuits. #IHeartTally”). Other promotional elements include cards placed on hotel pillows as well as social media and public relations activities. Street teams – dressed in “Show us some love. #IHeartTally” t-shirts – attend popular local events and distribute reminder cards about sharing Tallahassee experiences on social media. The street teams have distributed information displaying the hashtag at popular Downtown Getdowns, Seminole Block parties, and both FSU and FAMU home football games.
User generated content bearing the hashtag appears on the Visit Tallahassee Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages and as featured content on the tourism website, www.VisitTallahassee.com.
