This year so far has been exciting for beer and cider enthusiasts around the All Saints district. Late January marked the opening of Tallahassee's premier cider bar "Cider Lodge". It's an offshoot of Fermentation Lounge's already robust menu of tasty beverages, but the lodge aims to offer a slightly different environment.
According to Fermentation Lounge's blog, "The tasting room reps a different side of Ferm; delicious craft beer and wine served amidst quiet conversation and artisan eats." This comes as no surprise due to the growing popularity of Fermentation Lounge which leads to a larger number of patronage. Any sane businessman would take this opportunity to expand. The guys at Fermentation Lounge not only expanded, they specialized. They sought out to offer even more hand crafted goodness to appease the thirsty masses.
Those interested in what Ferm does best, rest assured that even with the new venture, the service remains attentive and as knowledgeable as ever. The main focus of the Cider Lodge is to offer anyone visiting the location the opportunity to enjoy the wide selection of beers, ciders, and artisan delicacies in the comfort of a lodge setting. Interestingly enough, the lodge space can be reserved for private parties or meetings so if you are planning on meeting somewhere regularly, or have a fit of inspiration, the Cider Lodge would be a great place to meet up with your cohorts to fashion your idea into something better. Of course all the fashioning will be done so over some of the good old inspiration juice.
To top the news of this expansion, Barfinder.com has placed Fermentation Lounge at number 16 on the list of America's top 100 bars. Even though Fermentation Lounge is my favorite bar to frequent in Tallahassee, I would have never guessed that it would have broken top twenty on a list of our nation's best bars.
The guys at Ferm were just as surprised. They wrote, "Honestly, our first thought is that there is no way that we are the sixteenth best bar in the country. Looking down the list, I see bars that serve innovative cocktails, have tap lists that far surpass our own, and don't have bathroom lines from hell." It turns out it wasn't just the selection of beers and the VIP bathroom that made it special. It was everyone who tried out new beers there each weekend who made the bar what it was.
The crowd is as dynamic and interesting as I imagine. Hipsters, college students, teachers, and professionals young and old frequent Fermentation Lounge. It seems like the low key and inviting atmosphere is what made the bar break top 20 in the nation. The more I think about it, th
